The NOURI concept
Nutrition that explains itself
NOURI is a calm planning space for people who want to eat well without turning every meal into a calculation. We show what a portion contains, where its energy comes from and how it fits into the whole day.
It is guidance, not a rigid diet: portions remain editable, foods stay familiar and every number is presented as a useful estimate rather than a promise.
See the whole picture
Calories, protein, fats and carbohydrates update together as portions change.
Understand every number
Recipe energy is the rounded sum of ingredient estimates, not an unrelated label.
Keep the human rhythm
Plan, swap, save and cook without streaks, guilt or all-or-nothing rules.

Useful, not overwhelming
How to build a balanced bowl
Start with a protein you enjoy: chicken, fish, eggs, tofu, beans or lentils. Add a generous mix of vegetables for color, texture and variety rather than relying on the same two ingredients every day.
Choose a grain or starchy vegetable such as quinoa, brown rice, bulgur, potato or sweet potato. Finish with a measured source of fat — avocado, seeds, tahini or olive oil — plus herbs, citrus or spices for flavor.
There is no single perfect ratio. Appetite, schedule and energy needs change, so use the serving controls in NOURI to adjust the full bowl while keeping its ingredient list and calorie calculation connected.
A useful bowl should be satisfying, practical and easy to repeat with new combinations. That flexibility is what turns one recipe into a sustainable cooking pattern.
Why consistency matters more than perfection
A plan only helps when it can survive a busy week. One nourishing breakfast, a prepared lunch or a familiar dinner repeated regularly often has more value than an ambitious routine that lasts for three days.
Choose one anchor meal first. Save two or three recipes you genuinely like, keep their core ingredients available and let the rest of the day stay flexible. If plans change, adjust the next meal instead of treating the whole day as lost.
Review your week with curiosity: which meals kept you satisfied, which took too long and which ingredients went unused? Small edits based on real life make the next plan easier and more personal.
Consistency does not mean eating identically. It means returning to a simple structure while varying vegetables, proteins, flavors and recipes.
Low ferritin: practical food steps for women
Ferritin is commonly used to assess the body’s stored iron. A low result deserves a conversation with a clinician because the reason matters: heavy menstrual bleeding and pregnancy can increase risk, while blood loss, digestive conditions or other causes may also need investigation.
Food can support iron intake, but it cannot diagnose or treat the cause of low ferritin. Include varied iron-containing foods such as lean meat, seafood, beans, lentils, tofu, pumpkin seeds, leafy greens and iron-fortified grains. Plant-based iron is generally absorbed less efficiently than iron from animal foods.
Pair plant sources with vitamin-C foods — for example lentils with red pepper and lemon, or beans with tomato and broccoli — because vitamin C improves absorption of non-heme iron. Tea and coffee can reduce absorption when taken with a meal, so the Office on Women’s Health suggests having them between meals instead.
Do not start high-dose iron supplements only from a website recommendation. Too much iron can be harmful, and the right dose and duration depend on blood results and the underlying cause. Ask a healthcare professional about testing, treatment and follow-up, especially with fatigue, breathlessness, dizziness, pregnancy or heavy periods.
This article is general education, not a diagnosis or treatment plan. The collection below pairs iron-containing foods with vitamin-C ingredients, based on guidance from the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements and the NHS.
Calculation method
What “accurate” means here
Each recipe total is calculated from the edible amount of every listed ingredient. Changing servings multiplies ingredient amounts, calories and macros together.
Food naturally varies by variety, brand and cooking method, so values are rounded estimates. NOURI follows the portion formula and energy principles described by USDA FoodData Central.
For medical nutrition therapy, pregnancy, an eating disorder, diabetes or another clinical need, use targets from a qualified healthcare professional.
Questions, answered
A little more clarity
Are the calorie totals fixed?
No. They update with every portion and serving change. The displayed recipe total is always the rounded sum of its listed ingredients.
Is the daily guide a prescription?
No. It is an editable planning reference. Individual needs vary with age, body size, health, activity and many other factors.
Why can macros differ slightly from calories?
Food databases may account for fiber and food-specific energy factors differently. Ingredient totals and macros are also rounded for readability.
How does the meal finder choose a recipe?
It compares your calorie target, selected meal type, food style and available time with eligible recipes. It also tests several portion sizes and ranks the closest calculated result.
Can I keep my changes?
Yes. Favorites, your energy guide, lunch preferences and the individual menu for every calendar date are saved on this device.
